CANADA REMOVED EXPRESS ENTRY CRS POINTS FOR JOB OFFERS
On March 25, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a significant change to the Express Entry system by removing the additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points previously awarded for job offers. Under the updated Ministerial Instructions, candidates will no longer receive the 50 or 200 bonus points for valid job offers, including those supported by Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA).
This adjustment is temporary, but IRCC has not specified an end date for the measure. Importantly, the change does not impact individuals who have already received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) or have pending PR applications. The decision is part of Canada’s strategy to recalibrate the Express Entry system and focus on candidates with skills aligned to Canada’s economic needs.
For those navigating the Express Entry system, understanding the latest changes is crucial for successful immigration planning. This update underscores the importance of focusing on core human capital factors—such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency—to maximize CRS scores.
